The Founder’s Journey
From Corporate Corridors to the Loom.The soul of Tiyaz lies in the vision of our founder, Sukanya Dey.
For over a decade, Sukanya navigated the fast-paced corporate world, building a robust career in Human Resources and Operational Management. While she excelled in managing people and processes, a quiet dream of entrepreneurship always lingered in the background. She yearned to build something that was not only successful but soulful.
Her turning point came not in a boardroom, but during a visit to the rural pockets of Bengal. There, she witnessed the sheer dedication and artistry of the local Tanti bhai (weaver brothers). She saw the rhythmic motion of the handlooms and the incredible fabrics being created—but she also saw the struggle.
Despite their hard work and talent, these artisans remained unseen, often separated from the market by layers of middlemen who absorbed the profits. Sukanya realised that her background in operations was exactly what was needed to organise this unorganised sector.

Our Mission: Bridging the Gap Inspired by the lives of Bengal's weavers, Sukanya spent months researching their lifestyle, their challenges, and their craft. The problem was clear: the gap between the artisan and the consumer was too wide, filled with intermediaries that diluted the value for the creator.
